This is the case where he is properly introduced. Kogoro was invited by Yoko Okino to an engagement party of her best friend, Kaoru Kusano, apparently her future bridegroom was Kenzaki. When it was the time that "Detective Samonji" will be starting to broadcast, everyone gathered in the living room, and Kenzaki himself was watching the show too. But Kusano left and went bathing since she did not want to see herself in the TV. After some time, Kusano still did not return to the living room. Kogoro requested Kenzaki to go and check her out. Kenzaki knocked on the door for several times but Kusano never responded. He opened the bathroom door and saw Kusano fainted in the bathtub. Therefore, Kenzaki became one of the suspects in this attempted murder case. Although he proclaimed hismelf to be the "future bridegroom" of Kusano, in fact it was all made up. It was an act devised by Kusano to test the sincereness for her true lover, her manager, Atsushi Makuma. Accordingly, Kenzaki only did a favour of Kusano's. At the end of the case, he was cleared of suspicion.

Kogoro-san is a Good Man (Manga: 787-789, Anime: 661-662)

Kenzaki only makes a brief appearance on TV as Detective Samonji.

The Treasure Chest Filled with Fruits (Manga: 844-846, Anime: 727-728)

Kenzaki is the show host in a cooking show. A very peculiar one, in which the contestants had to cook relative dish based on the unknown ingredients given by the TV station. The fruits as raw ingredients were completely sealed in a chest that was chosen carefully by the food coordinator, Terafumi Kasuga, and was secured with a double padlock mechanism, making the chest impossible to be opened until the show starts. Kenzaki, being the show host for this cooking show, was always the one who received the key from the TV producer to unlock the padlock on the chest, and opens the chest to reveal the secret fruit ingredients.

However, just as the show was about to get started, the head judge Shoutoku Takeki was nowhere to be found. Therefore, the producer thought up an idea of inviting the great detective Kogoro Mouri to serve as the special guest, and Kenzaki also preferred to work with Kogoro as he had already met him before, in the wounded idol case. Unfortunately, when he opened the chest using the key handed by the producer, he found the head judge dead among the apples in the chest. He also got scared for a moment, and called the police. Afterwards, he came across Sera and Conan, who were trying to examine the crime scene. Kenzaki greeted Conan, and explained to Sera that they had met each other before in a case. Sera also recalled Kenzaki's fame, and called Detective Samonji a "funny detective". During the investigation part, he also helped the police deducing some of the case situation. But after that, he was excluded from the suspect circle, since he was only a show host and had no oppurtunity to kill the head judge, as well as to open the padlock before the show.

Detective Play Murder Case (Manga: 1129-1133, Anime: TBA)

Kenzaki is chosen to play "Daigorō Mouri" (a pun on Kogoro's name) due to his previous encounters with Kogoro and familiarity with the sleeping detective as well as his career as Detective Samonji, in a new play by now deceased director Kyosuke Kabumoto and arrested screenwriter Reisuke Inaba alongside famous idol Hyouga Koumoto. He is delighted to play the sobriquet of the famous detective and is happy to meet him again at the play's premiere. He howevers only play Daigorō every other day due to his packed schedule as a public figure. He mentions to the protagnists that he was proposed to by his long-time sweetheart Yuki Takeno at Naniwa Harukas and accepted. He leaves the theater premises after three murders occur and it is unknown if he will don the role for other performances or if the play continued to be shown.
