In contrast to his prior demonic characterization, in the manga canon Takeshi Onimaru appears as an honorable, polite, and serious young man, albeit frightfully massive and skilled at Kendo. He apologizes to Ran when she runs headlong into his hard chest protector and winds up on the floor. He does not help her up though, and seems more concerned with refusing an honorary citizenship, which Momiji set up for him so he would leave the tournament so Heiji could win, he feels he does not deserve due to his a perceived lack of worthiness. Overall, his character appears to more purely embody a Makoto-type samurai mentality who likes fighting strong opponents. Yaiba
Originally a very serious person, Onimaru could not get along with Yaiba at all and the two quickly became rivals. In order to defeat his hated enemy, Onimaru began training with his family's sacred Fuujin-ken until he became possessed by it and became an actual demon (the character for oni in his name means demon). He soon took over all of Japan, traveling in a flying castle. His minions include Kumo-Otoko and the Hakki, the Kuroki, the Shiteno, and many completely black oni. Eventually, he switches from the Fuujin-ken to the Maou-ken.
After Yaiba cuts off his horns he returns to being a normal human. At first he viewed Yaiba as a nuisance, but after training with Yaiba's father Kenjuro, he returns for the final story and now acknowledges Yaiba as a friendly rival. During the Oda Nobunaga Tournament he has a dove for a pet.
Appearance
Onimaru is a tall man with a bald head and a serious expression, with a thin body frame. After turning into a Oni, he's become bulkier and taller, with a much more muscled body and small horns protunding from his forehead. As a student, he wore the typical black uniform. In his demon form, Onimaru dons a fearsome elaborated armor with the breastplate shaped like a grinning skull, spiked shoulderpads and decorated greaves and bracers trimmed with black fur. He also wears a red cloak and occasionaly a black helmet shaped like a dragon's head. He also has a jetpack in the back of the armor. During the Oda Nobunaga tournament he wears a black kimono. He also has a weird dot on the middle of his forehead.
Personality
When he was possessed by Fujin he turned to an oni he wanted to take over Japan and the world, he was also cruel like he wanted to kill Yaiba and his friends but when Kaguya came to take over earth he and Yaiba team up and work together to beat her after Kaguya was defeated Onimaru said he is going to beat yaiba and left, in their last battle when Yaiba cut his horns he came back to his old self and saw Yaiba as a good rival and Yaiba's father taught onimaru kendo.
In Detective Conan he is more polite than in Yaiba, he apologized Ran for hitting into his armor, but didn't help her get up, he also talked politely with coach and even laughed a little.
Abilities
before become possessed by fujin he was skill at kendo like in manga he was able to defeat captain of kendo with one strike, when he became possessed by fujin he used magical wind power to fight and later demon king sword, after yaiba cut his horns he returned to his original self and yaiba's father taught him kendo.
